Campground

Wahweap Campground & RV Park

The view of Lake Powell and beyond are fantastic. This campground is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and is very well maintained. The lake water level has gone down so much over the past decades that the original boat launch, which has been extended through the years to be 1/4 mile long, STILL doesn't reach the water. So they built yet another boat launch. It is amazing.

Things to see

City of Page

Page is a small, quaint town with several good restaurants and a brewery. The locals were very kind and went out of their way to interact with us.

Photos

Glen Canyon Dam

The visitor's center had interesting facts about the dam and you are able to walk out on the bridge for pictures. They were not giving tours at the time we visited but we still learned a lot of dam facts (sorry, just couldn't resist).

Navajo Canyon Boat Tour

We enjoyed the scenery and the facts shared by the guide. The water was at an all-time low when we were here, just 15 feet above dead pool (and you thought that was just a movie!). You are able to bring food and drink on the tour. We recommend sitting on the upper deck for the best views.

Papillon Helicopter Tour

If you've never taken a helicopter ride, then this is a must do! We flew over Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon Dam, Navajo Canyon, and then landed on top of Tower Butte. We also recommend paying the extra fee to sit in the front seat.

Hiking

Hanging Garden Trail

Short and easy trail. The "hanging garden" is small and not that interesting but it was a good hike to get Polly some exercise.

Horseshoe Bend Trail

This is a very popular trail. It is run by the city of Page so it was $10 per vehicle at the time we visited. It isn't much of a hike (all on a paved trail) but the view at the end is certainly worth it!

Resurrection Canyon

The hike starts on top of the canyon where the trail is a little difficult to follow so we recommend downloading the AllTrails map. Once you get down into the canyon, the walking is easy and the rock formations are amazing. If you go about 1/4 mile past the end of the trail in AllTrails, you will come across a small stream.

Skylight Arch Trail

The road to the trailhead is gravel, sand, and very bumpy so you would not want to take a car with low ground clearance. You travel on it for 5+ miles. With that said, it was worth the views. We recommend going on a calm day as you are up at a higher elevation and the wind can be bad.

The New Wave Trail

Great trail for all levels and ages. We went off trail and explored a shallow cave and nearby rock formations.

Wahweap Window

We had to kayak and hike to get up to the Wahweap Window. Beware, you will need to make your own trail and there are a lot of prickly plants. The water was at the lowest point ever when we were there so it was interesting to see writings and carvings at the top of the window. We were told that they were made when you could take a boat up to and in the window.

Biking

Page Rim View Trail

A great ride with amazing views. It is relatively flat so it didn't feel like 10 miles. Highly recommend riding it, in fact, we did it twice!

Kayaking

Lake Powell

We had a great time paddling around Lake Powell. There are several islands and inlets to explore.

Food and Drink

Big John's Texas BBQ

Great place for beer and bbq! Polly loved the bones they gave to her. They even gave us a bag of them to take home.

Photos

Fiesta Mexicana

We like it so much we went back for both the "Margarita Martes" days (like Taco Tuesday but focusing on the alcohol) we were in Page.

Photos

Grand Canyon Brewing Company

Great beer and good food too. Highly recommend the wedge salad.

Hot n Sweet Coffee and Donut Shop

Great coffee, freshly made donuts, and yes, Spam breakfast burritos! According to the shop owner, there are 3 groups of people who like Spam - Navajos, Hawaiians, and Minnesotans. Mark, the owner, is hilarious and will entertain you with each customer interaction.
