Steubenville

Austin RV Park and Cabins

What a great park for kids and adults.  So many things to do, check out the pics.  If you are lucky and the timing is right, when you leave, the owner will say good-bye to you over the loud speaker.

To make a long story short ...

A mini family reunion

I would have to say that the biggest reason we pass through Steubenville area is because of my mom's family legacy.  If you've read our entry for Pittsburgh from two years ago, you'll see some of this.  My mom's "favorite" niece, Susan (Suzie), and her brother live in Mingo Jct, right next to Steubenville.

Suzie's and George's mom was my mom's half sister.  Even though we lived in Indiana and Wisconsin, we stayed in close contact with them and would visit each other once in a while.  I made the mistake of passing through here one time on a motorcycle trip with a friend and NOT visiting and still haven't heard the end of it.  I wouldn't think of doing that again, so here we are!  Despite my joking, I LOVE seeing them and vice versa.  George has a special connection with Polly.  She clearly remembers coming here two years ago because she started "talking" as soon as we pulled up their street.

As with other people we visit, friends or relatives, we enjoy helping them do things that they either can't do or don't have the time to do.  On this trip, it was electrical and plumbing work for George and Suzie.

One additional fun activity, that I asked Suzie to help coordinate, was a get-together at The Ville, a very good and long-standing restaurant that another of our relatives (Rick Hritz) operates.  I offered to come in and play music and they were happy to have me.  We also invited as many of our local relatives as we could get ahold of.  It was fantastic to, again, see relatives that I have never met before!  That's a bit of a theme, at times, during our travels.
