Wardrobe Slide-out Floor Replacement

In our Fuzion 429, we had discovered that the floor of our wardrobe slide-out was not flat. In fact, it looked warped where the rollers made contact with the floor. Our water damage suspicion was confirmed in two ways. First, during a rain storm, we noticed water pooling on our bedroom floor and traced the stream to the side of the slide-out. Second, one of the drawer supports had pulled away from the floor and, upon further inspection, confirmed that the entire OSB floor material was spongy. Yikes.

We had researched how to replace the slide-out floor and found a wonderful video showing how to jack up a slide-out and replace the floor without removing the entire slide-out from the RV. This was the basis of how we proceeded.

A couple views of the underside of the slide-out. Notice the warping.

The trim was being pulled too. Hints of damage.

We had rain streaming into the bedroom and pooling on the floor. We applied some "Flex Seal" tape to prevent more damage.

We installed 1x4s on each side of the slide-out so we could jack up the slide-out. It moved up about an inch which gave us room to get the old floor out.

Here is the removed floor. You can really see the extent of the damage.

We used "Goo Gone" to get all the old adhesive off the black plastic.

With the floor removed, you can see where the floor was attached to the frame of the slide-out.

Again, with the floor removed, we can see the rollers that the floor rode on.

We had to remove the face of the wardrobe off so we could get the new floor into position.

After screwing the new floor in, we could work in reverse to put it all back together.

We applied caulk to the inside surfaces of the trim pieces before pushing them into place then applied additional caulk to the edges to make sure it is all sealed.
