Deadwood

Campground

Mystic Hills Hideaway

A very nice campground nestled in a hillside. The on-site bar & grill has a great atmosphere. Mark played there one evening to the delight of the cooks, bartenders, and a newly married couple!

Things to see

Deadwood

It is fun to just walk around. There are so many historic bars, restaurants, and casinos. So much history. We went to Saloon #10, where they re-enact a gunfight. Why are you not surprised that Mark got in on the action? He makes a great wild west bartender.

Nemo Mountain and Nemo Valley

The view from Nemo Mountain is quite spectacular. ATV/UTV trails lead up to several look-out points. Find the flag!

PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rodeo

Quite a show! The day we went, they were showing on ESPN!

Hiking

Custer Peak

Most of the trail is an off-road vehicle/Jeep trail but it is worth the view at the top. You can also traverse it via ATV/UTV and then hike the last 1/4 mile of switchbacks to the lookout tower. There were a lot of ATVs on the trail. Dogs allowed.

Nice between Deadwood and Lead. There are also history placards along the path. Dogs allowed.

Nemo Mountain

This is an ATV/UTV trail that we hiked instead. It can be accessed in Nemo, SD. We highly recommend staying at the Freebird Ranch Resort (www.FreebirdRanch.com). Dogs allowed.
