Louisville

Campground

Louisville South KOA

Very nice campground. There was a large "community area" where Mark performed. There are also several trails on the grounds to walk or bike.

Things to see

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest

We highly recommend visiting here. It is a wonderful place to walk, picnic, and see the "forest giants". Dogs allowed.

Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory

This was a fun place to learn the history of Louisville slugger bats and actually see them being made. We recommend that you take the factory tour. You get a free mini bat at the end of the tour. There is also a batting cage where you use replica bats from various baseball stars. We purchased a full-sized wooden bat (our idea of home security in the camper).

Stitzel-Weller Distillery

So many distilleries in the area to choose from! We chose this one based on ratings. We had no clue regarding the rules and regulations around the bourbon industry. The tour was very informative and interesting. The smell of the aging barrels in the warehouse was AMAZING. Of course, the taste testing at the end was a bonus.
